physical therapy appointments

  • In short, an appointment with a Physical Therapist consists of an Evaluation and Treatment.

    A more detailed explaination:

During a physical therapy appointment, an individual is given an evaluation consisting of but not limited to:

Giving the physical therapist a subjective history that includes past medical history, history of past physical trauma or surgeries, medications taken, current medical diagnoses.

Objective measurements are taken that may include range of motion, strength, balance, flexibility, anatomic alignment, gait and postural observations, and specific diagnostic tests for orthopedic and neurologic conditions.

Then an assessment is made that may include a list of pertinent findings, and possibly a diagnosis.

Based on this evaluation, the Physical Therapist constructs a treatment plan with consideration to the needs of the patient.

  • I offer a “boutique” Physical Therapy service for 1-2 appointments. My focus is on movement analysis and needs of the patient/dancer. I can do corrective manual techniques as needed on a limited basis. The focus of these sessions will be to form an exercise treatment plan based on my evaluation that the patient can follow through with independently, as well as corrections and observations that will help improve their dance.

For those with ongoing pain, please see a medical doctor first to get a thorough examination. Inform your doctor if you would like to receive physical therapy so that they may determine if it appropriate for you, and if you may have any restrictions the therapist should know about.

If you have a medical condition that requires ongoing physical therapy, or need  extensive manual therapy, you should find a Physical Therapist in your area to help you.

  • I am located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

  • In some states, including New Mexico, Physical Therapists have “Direct Access” which means someone can see a Physical Therapist without a prescription from a doctor. However, insurance companies require a medical doctor’s prescription to cover Physical Therapy care.

  • I do not accept insurance. Please message me for price quotes for a physical therapy appointment.
